Confession:

I hated going to yoga classes.

I walked in the studio and immediately be intimidated.  I was a ball of anxiety, with a million questions running through my mind ...

“Where do I put my bag? / Is there still a spot in the back? / How many other people will be in this class? / Will the teacher move too quickly for me to keep up? / What if they do that one (insert complicated sanskrit name here) pose?”

I. was. a. mess.

More than a physical challenge, it was a mental marathon. I felt so intimidated, surrounded by these flawless, supermodel goddesses around me, who floated from one advanced pose to another - with seemingly little to no effort.

My yoga classes always worked up a sweat, and always left me feeling defeated. There wasn’t any focus, joy or ease in my practice.

I never want anyone to feel that way.

I want to meet you right where you are. Whether this is class number 1 or 1,000.

Our virtual class format is the perfect place to finally quit playing the comparison game.

What does Yoga mean to me?

Community.

Acceptance.

Freedom.

I’m not your typical yogi with a perfect yoga body.  When I began yoga, I hated my body; but slowly, I began to appreciate and care for my body through time on my mat.

Amid struggles with depression and anxiety, I came back to myself through time on my mat.

Through a cross-country move, significant career challenges, and a world-wide quarantine, I found my people and my community through time on my mat.

Yoga has taught me how to be my most authentic self.  Yoga has taught me how to breathe through discomfort, stress, and conflict.  Yoga has taught me to take risks, trust the process, and accept where I am without judgment.

I found community, acceptance, and freedom because I said #YesPlease to my first yoga practice.  And now, teaching yoga is how I say #ThankYou for what it has given me.

I didn't always love running or weight lifting and wanted to find a way to keep my body moving … I found yoga.

Through my practice, I've found that yoga is so much more than moving.

Yoga has been a constant journey of self discovery, self-awareness and a way to keep my mind, body, and soul healthy.

Yoga has kept me grounded and has always been there for me even when I get away from practicing on a consistent basis.

I decided to start my journey as a yoga instructor because I had always been so inspired by my yoga teachers.

Both on the mat and in front of a class, I have found a community of people where I feel I am accepted without judgement. I feel encouraged to take risks, have the space to fail and try again, and each class work I towards ultimately finding the truest version of myself.

I am so grateful for all that yoga has given me and it is my hope to give that back to my community of students.

See you on the mat!
